THE SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY IN THE SERVICE OF PRECISION.
The concept of the RICHARD LANGE dates back to the 19th century. It was an era during which aviation pioneers like Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin conquered the skies with their flying machines and geophysicist Erich von Drygalski embarked on the first German expedition to the South Pole. In those days, precise, easily legible watches were indispensable for navigational purposes and scientific measurements. And A. Lange & Söhne crafted time-keeping instruments explicitly for such applications: the observation watches and scientific pocket chronometers with a fusée-and-chain transmission.
This tradition has come back to life with the RICHARD LANGE and the RICHARD LANGE “Pour le Mérite”, two fine observation watches for the wrist that pay tribute to the researcher and horology pioneer of the same name. His discovery of an improved “Metal Alloy for Watch Springs” comes to the fore in the RICHARD LANGE with the manufactory’s proprietary hairspring. The excellent rate accuracy results attained by the RICHARD LANGE “Pour le Mérite” are attributable to its fusée-and-chain transmission. |
