As was the case in Ferdinand A. Lange’s lifetime, the balance cock of an A. Lange & Söhne watch is still lovingly engraved by hand today. This transforms each timepiece crafted by the Saxon manufactory into a unique treasure.

Because even though the motif of the engraving has remained unchanged across generations, it is the personal signature of each artist, the depth of the cut and the curl of the lines that makes each balance cock distinctive and unique.

Thus, it is hardly surprising that Lange’s master engravers can look
at a balance cock at a later stage and easily tell which of their colleagues decorated it.
