THE DOUBLE RATTRAPANTE MECHANISM.
The world’s first double rattrapante mechanism, developed byA. Lange & Söhne, makes it possible to perform comparative measurements of events lasting as long as 30 minutes. This is because its minute counter also has a rattrapante function in addition to the chrono sweep-seconds hand of a mechanical wristwatch.
Beyond the function of a simple chronograph, a rattrapante chrono-graph can also be used for lap time measurements, time comparisons, and the identification of the fastest/slowest laps. In conventional rattrapante chronographs, these functions are limited to one revolution along the seconds scale, i.e. to 60 seconds. With Lange’s rattrapante minute counter, it is now possible to perform truly meaningful comparative measurements.
